
We offer the following two training courses as virtual presentations with a trainer or in-person which provides a more hands on experience:
Mesh Networking 101 (<2 hours)
You will learn brief antenna theory, information about the radio spectrum, and how mesh networking operates. We will then review Meshtastic software, node settings, roles, modem presets, encryption, hardware (solar, batteries, etc), how to flash firmware, and how to conduct a site survey.

Basic Radio (<2 hours)
You will learn brief antenna theory, information about the radio spectrum and FCC band plan, radio wave propagation, radio components and systems, power and terrain considerations, tones, nets, and bands. We will discuss PACE planning and why it is important. Information about how to acquire an FCC amateur radio license will also be discussed. The training will also provide a brief discussion about using CHIRP programming software. To finish off the training, you will learn basic functions of Baofeng UV-9R, menu navigation, and how to verbally communicate using a handheld radio. In-person radio trainings include a few scenarios and games using a radio.

Studying for FCC Amateur Radio License (On Your Own Time)
We also offer financial resources to individuals and organizations to access online radio communications classes to help develop their skills base or prepare for testing toward an FCC amateur radio license.
